Tars Mini and Youth Rugby

2019 Season RECAP

See the video attached for film of our last mini rugby practice of the 2019 season!

In 2019 the program grew significantly yet again. We had a number of parents, former and current players help out as coaches. This is the second season that we have had active players as coaches – the involvement of these players is an important link between the senior program, mini and youth programs as well as being a critical element in the sustainability of the program. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time!

The Tars Old Boys stepped up this year with a donation, which is much appreciated. Admiral Insurance kindly purchased a set of jerseys for the Metro team (See image to the left).

We partnered with HRFC to offer a Metro Team for Introduction to Contact age group. Players could register with HRFC or the Tars and train with both programs. We split the fees according to the origin of the player. The Metro Team was a success, with 16 players registered.

Overall, we had another strong season. We continue to see a significant increase in the number of players on the field.

We are always looking to improve our program – if you have any suggestions for us, feel free to send us a message.

Thank you to everyone who helped make 2019 our most successful season yet!
