2019 MENS RECAP
Division 1 Nova Scotia Mccurdy Cup Champions
Division 1 Maritime Caledonia Cup Finalists
Division 1 Undefeated Provincial Season
Division 2 Nova Scotia Shannon Cup Finalists
The 2019 season was a successful one for the Tars Senior Mens Div 1 and 2 teams, fielding over 50 registered players with a number of new players joining the club. Trainings were well attended each week throughout the season, and a culture of hard training and teamwork was established early.
Highlights of the regular season included 3 wins over our arch rivals PEI, Div 1 going through the round robin undefeated for the first time since in recent memory, and Div 2 winning their semi final against Eastern Shore by 70 points. Both Div 1 and Div 2 had hard fought finals in their respective divisions against reigning champions PEI. Our Div 2 side put in a huge effort over in Charlottetown but narrowly lost 18-17 with a chance to win the game in the final play. Our Div 1 side avenged this a month later with a nail biting 30-27 win over PEI in front of a large crowd at Saint Mary’s University Turf.
Sadly at the last hurdle, our 12 game winning streak came undone on a snow covered field against a strong Loyalists side in the Maritime Final in Fredricton. The future looks bright for the club with many young players completing their first season in senior rugby, and the Tars are hungry for more success in 2020.
